It was a lovely bright, blue sky day for Sian and Shaun and the Barn at Upcote is a wonderful rustic cosy venue perfect for a wedding. The owners graciously allow photography in their lovely gardens to the side of the venue and we took full advantage of this after the ceremony with a stroll around the lake. There was one vantage point that was particularly magical with the reflection of Sian and Shaun in the water from the far bank. The myriad of colours of plants reflecting in the water resulted in an image more like a constable painting than a photograph! Sian and Shaun’s fun-loving spirit and the palpable warmth in the air, mean’t a whole series of fun shots with family and friends with lot’s of opportunity for candid photography. Perhaps 75% of the photos I take throughout a wedding day are taken unobtrusively and armed with a telephoto zoom lens I am able to capture precious candid moments from afar that will tell a wedding story. My style of wedding photography is all about documenting real moments and I do this by hunting for them! Great photography is about patience and watching very closely for people to express themselves in the most animated way. This can be with the hilarity the bridal party will display and is that period after the ceremony and a few drinks that people will ready to really relax and have fun. This was particularly true of Sian and Shaun’s friends and bridal party who gave me ample opportunity to capture this in my lens.
