Marsh Farm Hotel Wedding Photography – Lara and Kieran at Marsh Farm Hotel, Royal Wootton Bassett.

Marsh Farm Hotel is perfect for small to medium sized weddings and has a lovely country feel about it. I always carry out a recce of the area surrounding a wedding venue as there is often a hidden gem just waiting to be found ideal for a backdrop for portraits of the bride and groom. This was no less so for Marsh Farm Hotel and though it has a nice garden with some good areas for some shots, the area around the back of the venue suited my taste far more. To reach it you had to walk down a country lane to the side of the venue, which circled around to a couple of old broken windowless buildings that were covered in vines and long grass. I love this sort of setting as it has a natural vibe and is a bit wild looking which is in contrast to the bride and groom’s wedding clothes. Basically this kind of setting is more rock n’roll and especially suited Lara and Kieran and how they see themselves. It was too hot and bright during the day for many of the shots I wanted of Lara and Kieran, so we waited until evening and I new we were in for a fun and interesting shoot. The hazy golden evening light just added that other-worldly feeling to the images especially as they headed out into a field for a walk.

I’m a natural light photographer and love to capture the interplay of shadow and light and enjoy integrating the bride and groom with this. Differing shades of shadow and light can offer up a mood to add drama to an image and I’m constantly on the look out for this.
